Biography:
Norrin Radd, known as the Silver Surfer, debuted in Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966). A humanoid alien from the planet Zenn-La, he bargained with Galactus to spare his homeworld from consumption.
Galactus granted Radd cosmic power and transformed him into the Silver Surfer, his herald. Bound to serve Galactus, the Surfer sought out planets for his master to devour.
Eventually, the Surfer landed on Earth. Empathy for humanity led him to defy Galactus. As punishment, Galactus erected a barrier, trapping the Surfer on Earth. He ultimately broke free. Since then, he has been a hero in his own right.
